Connector Failure

A common failure for connectors is poor plating adhesion of the surface finish to the basis metal of the connector lead frame. The need for strike plating layers for marginally solderable basis metal was the norm for many decades. Strike plating layers are also used for plating adhesion promotion. This knowledge has appeared to have been lost with transfer of manufacture to South East Asia.
